Staying Safe in STAR WARS Battlefront II

Staying Safe on the Battlefront

Guidance on impersonation, cheating, and staying safe while playing STAR WARS Battlefront II

A Message from the KYBER Team

In recent weeks, we’ve seen a noticeable increase in malicious activity across STAR WARS™ Battlefront II, particularly involving impersonation, harassment, and misinformation. These actions threaten players' and related community platforms' safety, trust, and experience.

This post outlines what impersonation looks like, how KYBER is working to prevent abuse, and what steps you can take to protect yourself and others. If you’ve been targeted or see suspicious behaviour, we encourage you to report it — quickly and through the correct channels.

A Server-Side Fix Has Been Deployed

We have verified and can confirm that EA has deployed a server-side fix to prevent some of the exploits from being used to interfere with official game servers. While we cannot divulge too many details, we will continue to send our exploit investigations to EA.

Remember - your voice matters. When this community bands together, we can get things done.

Impersonation and Misuse of Identity

We’ve observed a rise in attempts to impersonate KYBER staff, EA developers, content creators, and well-known community members. These impersonators often operate in-game using admin-style yellow messages or through Discord, Reddit, and other platforms.

In-game impersonation examples include:

  • False claims that lobbies are being “denied” by KYBER or EA
  • Messages urging players to subscribe, donate, or follow someone to avoid being targeted
  • Threats tied to fake authority figures
  • Promotions of cheat access or intimidation through fake admin messages

These messages are fabricated and are not from KYBER, EA, or any legitimate authority. Admin-style messages can be faked and should not be trusted without verification.

If a message or user seems suspicious, do not engage. Instead, report the user and notify KYBER or EA through official channels.

How KYBER Keeps Players Safe

KYBER is designed to support safe and fair gameplay across community-hosted servers. We have implemented several measures to help protect players:

  • Anonymized player data: Our Ping Site system ensures that sensitive information is never exposed to other users or server hosts.
  • Active moderation: KYBER community moderators review reports, remove bad actors, and support at-risk players.
  • Support for vulnerable users: We respond seriously and quickly to any reports of harassment, impersonation, or targeted threats.
  • Clear reporting pathways: Users can report incidents directly via the KYBER Discord, helping us take action quickly.

Cheating and Game Integrity

KYBER enforces a strict anti-cheating policy. Cheating and using or promoting third-party tools that interfere with the game is not tolerated and is a direct violation of our Terms of Service.

How cheating is handled:

  • Investigation and enforcement: Reports of cheating, abuse, or exploitation are reviewed by KYBER staff and trusted community moderators. Action is taken based on evidence, patterns of behaviour, and input from multiple sources. The integrity of gameplay is a top priority, and we rely on community vigilance to help us maintain fair standards.
  • Community moderation: Many KYBER servers are run by responsible hosts who enforce rules fairly and consistently.
  • Download safety: Players are strongly advised to only use mods, tools, and patches from trusted and verified sources. Files promising cheats or admin access are often malicious.
  • Reporting: Reports from the community are crucial. If you suspect someone of cheating or distributing cheats, report them through the proper channels.

If You Have Been Targeted

If you have been affected by impersonation, doxxing, or swatting threats, please take these steps:

  1. Collect evidence
Save screenshots, chat logs, usernames, and anything else that could be helpful in identifying the source of the issue.
  2. Report the incident
    • Report impersonation or harassment to the platform where it occurred (Discord, Reddit, Steam, etc.)
    • For serious threats, such as swatting or doxxing, contact your local authorities immediately.
  3. Secure your accounts
Change your passwords, enable two-factor authentication, and review your privacy settings on all platforms.
  4. Contact KYBER staff
Reach out through our official Discord. We can assist with investigations, take further action on reports, and help safeguard your experience in the game.
  5. Take care of your wellbeing
Experiencing impersonation, doxxing, or targeted harassment can be overwhelming. Your mental and emotional health matters — and it’s okay to ask for help.

If you’re feeling anxious, distressed, or unsafe, please consider reaching out to someone you trust. You are not alone, and support is available globally:

STAR WARS Battlefront II is a video game, but we recognize that real-world impact can follow online harassment. If you need help, we urge you to reach out to these professional services and know that your well-being comes first.
